Welcome to the CFR Newsletter
|
January 2010
|
|
|
Dear CFR Little League Participant,
Welcome to the 2nd edition of the CFR
Newsletter. The newsletter is part of the continued effort of the CFR
Executive to keep parents and players informed about the league
throughout the year. As we move through the heart of winter, the CFR
Executive continues to plan for the upcoming 2010 season. This
newsletter provides a snapshot of what’s been accomplished since the
last newsletter and what’s coming.

Winter Baseball Program Update
|
|
|
As we mentioned in our previous newsletter, CFR
revived its Winter Baseball Program. The program has met with great
success and has been running since January 9. In its first year back
after a three-year hiatus, the program has 32 participants ranging in
age from 6 to 12. Even though the program has already started, we are
still taking late registrants. If you are interested, please contact
our registrar for more
info.

Coaches Needed
|
|
|
With the season approaching, it is time for us
to put out a call for coaches for our Spring 2010 season. Our goal
this upcoming year is to have 3 dedicated coaches assigned to each
team in order to help spread the workload and allow coaches to take
summer vacation. If you or anyone you know is interested in helping
with a team, whether as an assistant, helper, scorekeeper, admin
coach, or head coach, please let us know. For our league to succeed
and grow, we need the help of dedicated volunteers to help teach our
children the game of baseball. If you are interested, please contact Randy Murdock (Director,
Player Development and Coaching) with your name, contact information,
desired position, and league you are interested in coaching. Please
note that in order for anyone to coach a summer intra-league team,
you need to be a spring league coach.

And
Umpires Too
|
|
|
|
Just as we are looking for volunteers to coach
teams, we are also looking for adults and youth who are interested in
umpiring games at all age levels within our league. Whether you are a
parent looking for a volunteer opportunity, CFR alum, or current player
at least 13 years old, we need to identify prospective umpires for
the 2010 season now. This is typically one of the most difficult
roles for us to fill and we would be overjoyed to identify people
willing to help fill out our umpiring staff this year. For adults,
umpiring offers more flexibility than other Little League volunteer
positions as you can determine your schedule depending on your
availability. For youth, umpiring is both a part-time job ($20 per
game) and a great opportunity to develop leadership skills. Training
is provided free of charge (Level I is a one-day commitment and
allows you to ump up to and including the Major level). If you
are interested, please contact our Umpire In Chief, Doug Pelchat.

Sponsorship Opportunities
|
|
|
|
Every year our league depends on local
businesses to help cover operating costs through sponsorship of our
league. If you know of a business that would be willing to provide
financial assistance or donate goods or services to help our league,
please contract our Director of Sponsorship.
